Principle
The -20°C rigid eutectic gels are essential elements to respect your cold chain. These “ice blocks” are the components that will allow you to produce and restore the cold inside your isothermal container, which limits the heat exchange between the outside and the inside, protecting and maintaining your products at the right temperature.
If our rigid eutectic gel -20°C is perfectly adapted to the conservation and the maintenance in temperature of your frozen products, there are other types of eutectic gels which work in the same way while delivering different temperatures, quite as for a refrigerator whose interior temperature is regulated. The choice of the eutectic liquid is therefore essential depending on the type of products to be transported and the isothermal container used.
In the same range of rigid eutectic gel, see :
our +5°C rigid gel for the transport of heat-sensitive health products that must be kept between 2°C and 8°C
our rigid +20°C gel for the transport of heat-sensitive health products that must be kept between 15°C and 25°C
Instructions of use
In order to release their energy inside an isothermal container, COLD & CO rigid eutectic gels must be placed inside a freezer prior to use to solidify and store cold. Depending on the eutectic liquid selected, the rigid gel will need to be recharged at a specific temperature.
To maintain the temperature of frozen products, we recommend conditioning rigid eutectic gels at -20°C with a red shell for at least 48 hours at a maximum temperature of -30°C (or 24 hours at -40°C).

Advantages
The main advantage of rigid eutectic gels -20°C is that cold refilling can be done without worrying about the arrangement of the gel block, unlike a soft eutectic gel, which must be frozen flat to obtain a homogeneous shape after freezing. Thanks to their solid shell, our rigid gels do not deform and are therefore easily reusable. We therefore recommend them if you need cold packs for intensive and repeated use.
Robust
COLD & CO’s -20°C rigid cold accumulators have an outer shell made of high density polyethylene (HDPE). This material offers an excellent resistance to shocks and compression. The corners are also reinforced for a better solidity in case of falls.
Waterproofing
Depending on the eutectic liquid chosen, COLD & CO rigid eutectic gels have either an ultrasonically sealed cap or a sealed aluminum cap to ensure a complete seal.
Lifetime and Maintenance tips
1.Store your rigid eutectic gels in a clean and dry place,
2.Limit the fall of your rigid eutectic gels especially after freezing,
3. Do not expose your rigid eutectic gels to extreme temperatures above +50°C or below -45°C,
4. Do not pierce or cut your rigid eutectic gels with a blunt object,
5.Do not wash your rigid eutectic gels in the dishwasher.
Perfect combination
Our 900 size rigid eutectic gels -20°C are perfectly adapted to fit in our MedicalCase Pharma medical cooler.
